Introduction
Management is the ability to lead and inspire your team of employees. Management includes: displaying professionalism, communication- must have excellent communication skills (clear and convincing), cooperation- working with members of their team to reached the vital goals, leadership- guiding others in the right path, strategic planning- learn effective strategies for implementing new techniques, and more. Health care management ensures proper delivery of health care services. According to Langabeer (2008), “Healthcare operations management is a discipline of management that integrates scientific or quantitative principles to determine the most efficient and optimal methods to support patient care delivery.” It can be defined as a part of management in health care managing the inputs and outputs of good services. In this paper, I will define operations management and describe the roles and goals of health care operations managers.
Operations management is a discipline of management that deals with managing the production and distribution of goods and services. The roles of health care operations managers are to find ways to carry out business processes while improving process efficiency and effectiveness. In order to improve efficiency, operations manager is consistently planning and setting strategic goals and objectives, reporting (using the key information obtained from reduce cost and improving productivity), and controlling functions. According to Docstoc (2010), “The roles and responsiblilities of operations managers include: ensuring functional development, manage day-to-day operations, make strategic recommendations and solve problems, conduct anaylsis and evaluate information (revenues, margins, cost, etc.), organize and anaylze cost effective soultions and more....
