The properties of marijuana as a medicine have been known to human kind for almost 5000 years, and while some government figures and civilians might say that medical marijuana should not be legalized, it is proven to treat many illnesses. The controversial nature of the issue is undeniable, but the supporters of the cause of legalizing medical cannabis are increasing each year. Many people argue that consuming the plant in any form comes with many negative side effects, but that is simply not true, because there are many different forms in which the drug may be ingested, some- completely (entirely) free of negative side effects. While marijuana is a proven treatment for many ailments, some of its claimed medical properties seem questionable and are yet to be proven. In this case, it’s safe to say that while cannabis might not be the holly(holy) multi-medicine, as claimed by its proposition, it should not be underestimated for its proven medical quality.

Marijuana has been known for its medical properties for many years. There are ancient writings and encrypts found that prove that statement. Dating all the way back to 2900 BC, Chinese emperor Fu Hsi, whom the Chinese credit for bringing civilization to China, seems to have made reference to Ma, the Chinese word for cannabis, noting that it was a very popular medicine that possessed both yin and yang. Two hundred years later, Chinese emperor Shen Nung, who was considered the father of medicine to the Chinese, confirmed Hsi’s words, and discovered marijuana’s medical properties along with two other popular Chinese herbs used as medicine- ginseng and ephedra.
