Abstract

This paper and discussions discusses the increasing problem of obesity, particularly among children’s in school. It discusses a variety of unhealthy factors that influence young people's eating and exercise habits. This paper looks at the unhealthiness of food that surrounds children in today's school system. The current epidemic of inactivity and the associated epidemic of obesity in schools are being driven by multiple factors such as having unhealthy vending machines, unhealthy food menu poor dietary choices, and less physical activity. The present studies are aimed to compare unhealthy food, nutrient intakes, and other health issues of obesity children in school. Varieties of unhealthy foods are offered in school vending machine. The studies and discussions also shows that by providing youth with access to variety of unhealthy foods, is the main concern considering the continued high occurrence of childhood obesity. The studies indicate that variety of foods tends to be energy dense and nutrient poor and can contribute to increased energy intake in children and adolescents.

What is Obesity? Obesity is caused by having a high amount of body fat. Many people are affected by obesity, including children in schools. Fat was once considered a cosmetic problem and thought of as a minor problem toward the health of an individual. Although this was the common belief in the generation before this, fat is now considered a "crippler and killer”. The question is does schools really affect obesity in children? I believe children are affected by the foods that are provided to them in school.

We have a very smart function in our body, our metabolism. The rate in which we burn the food we eat. Without a metabolic system, children would have to run 10 kilometers just to burn of a hamburger sold in school cafeterias. “National Health and...
