Pets have always been a part of American households, mostly cats and dogs. Recent trends in American culture have showed an increased awareness in dogs and cats wellbeing. A recent survey by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animalsof over 1000 households with pets across the US showed around 15 percent of all cats and dogs where lost at least once within the last 5 years, and only 90 percent of all lost pets where found. This lost 10 percent only makes up a small portion of the 5 to 7 million pets that show up in shelters each year.
