Executive Summary

The content of this course that helped me out and improved my understanding the most is creativity. Creativity meant to me you were born with it, and with that being said I myself did not feel creative in any sense of the word.  As I read week ones reading I found that creativity is hard work that can be taught, learned, and that everyone is creative. I also understand that a creative person must be an ethical, disciplined decision maker, align enterprise goals, produce and implement appropriate solutions to complex challenges, develop and execute strategies to capitalize on opportunities in the global business environment, and be mindful of the role of business in leading positive social change” (Laureate Education, 2013).

With my new understanding of creativity I started working with teams at work, and found that every individual team member was creative in their own ways. I watched the teams bring their creativity in and make products better. Every team member had something creative to bring to the team as I found out so did I. I found that creativity is not just for artist it is for everyone.  The impact of thinking only artist has creativity kept me from my potential of a better employee, and mother. I am glad for the manager I had at a job long time ago that showed me that I have creativity just like everyone else. With creativity teams can bring better ideas to help better products sold by the company.

The way I think now about creativity has helped me be a better leader in bringing out the creativity in all my team members. My future goal is to make creativity grow every chance I get. Keeping the employees motivated, allowing to talk (communicate openly), keep honest, and set realistic goals will help in creativity growing in the teams.
