Texting and Driving Sections I and II

Texting while driving is a very dangerous distraction and is much worse than drinking and driving because anyone and everyone has a cell phone and they can easily distract themselves while on the road by sending a simple but deadly text message. It is good to know that more than half of the United States has banned the use of cell phones while driving. The penalties have ranged from twenty dollars to two-hundred dollars depending of which state you have provided the offense. From my perspective, I think that texting while driving is increasing in rates every year because of issues that people need to address quickly which mostly involves work or family.

Texting is on the rise up from 9.8 billion messages a month in December 2005 to 110.4 billion in December 2008 and undoubtedly, more than a few of those messages are being sent by people driving cars. Previous academic studies that are much more scientific, have conducted in vehicle simulators which have shown that texting while driving impairs the driver’s abilities. Texting and driving causes many people to lose focus on their driving and not pay much attention to the road which of course can cause many accidents. Text messaging is by far the most misused and worst technological form of communication ever invented and should be banned while driving. In just a few short years, I have personally witnessed hundreds of people texting while driving and it should be taken into consideration of how serious this issue is (Lee, 2014).

Victoria K.
