RE: Research proposal: The impact of divorce on children under the age of 10.
This letter serves as a follow up on our informal meeting last week Friday. You have
requested me to put my proposal in writing. This morning my team and I had a meeting and
we are now able to comply with your request. We have discussed the project and compiled
a proposal for you. Please see the proposal attached.
As you are aware many people are under the impression that divorcing when your children
are young and under the age of 10, rarely has any impact on the child. People are under the
impression that the child will adjust must easier than they would if their parents get
divorced when the child is a teenager or near teenage years. Recently I started working
with children under the age of 10 and I have noticed many of the children coming from a
home where the parents have had a divorce or are going through a divorce, display signs of
extreme anger, confusion and some with extreme behavioural problems. These children all
had one thing in common and that is divorce.
I submit this proposal to you for two reasons. We need ethical approval for the study, and
we also require financial support to be able to conduct the study.
I hope the attached proposal will meet with your approval, and that you will be able to
support the study.
Yours sincerely,
EA Vermeulen .
