Clinical psychology is a huge part of psychology in general, which includes the understanding of assessing, and treating those individuals who suffer from behavioral and psychological disorders and illnesses. (Plante, 2011), “in fact, clinical psychology focuses its efforts o the ways in which the human psyche interacts with physical, emotional, and social aspects of health and dysfunction” (p. 5). Clinical psychology makes an effort towards incorporated and understanding the principles of psychology, such as reduce, and make educated guesses towards psychological, emotional, behavioral, biological, intellectual, social aspects of how a human functions (Plante, 2011). This field of psychology uses knowledge from the behavioral field an assists individuals in their lifespan with emotions, the physical body, as well as relationships (Plante, 2011). The history of clinical psychology is rich and ever evolving. A huge part of clinical psychology is that of research and statistics which help to aid in advancements. Clinical psychology being a huge part of psychology is in line with many other professions. These professions include social work, school counseling, and psychologist, and psychiatrist. Although they are similar they do share differences in their guidelines.

History

The field of clinical psychology is a sub field of psychology, which is in return a branch of philosophy. The blueprint for what is psychology today was laid in place by the philosophies of true thinkers like Sigmund Freud with his advances on the human mind, as well as behaviors. Psychology did not develop a true standing until later when philosophy had a major impact.
