INTRO

Identification of the Key Course Concepts

1. Organizational Culture – Is about shared values and beliefs that makes people to get to know what they are supposed to be doing and the basics of an organization.

2. Uncertainty Avoidance – The desire in a worker to avoid situations where the instructions or procedures are not clear or do not directly address the situation

3. Universalsim – Particularism - Universalism can be described as a belief or desire that laws, regulations, business processes apply equally and in all situations. Particularism can be described as a belief where laws, regulations, business processes can be applied, modified, or not applied based on the particular situation.

Compare and Contrast the Practices of Each Company

Starbucks – Embraces diversity and makes it an important part of their company. Starbucks treats every employee with respect.

3M - Respects their employees’ differences and the company realizes that diversity plays a strong role in their company and that diversity is very important in their company to be successful.

Robert Bosch, GmbH - Bosch is a respected developer and producer of automobile parts, home appliances, hand tools, and packaging equipment. From the beginning, Bosch was dedicated to supporting the work force, training personnel, and being a desirable place of employment. As the organization grew and became a multinational corporation, Bosch management realized the need and importance of a diverse work force.
