The Effect of Psychological Human Factors on System Usability
Abstract
Humans are a key element of the overall system, in addition to the hardware and software
components, and therefore, human factors (anthropometric, sensory, psychological and
physiological) need to be considered in design early and often (Blanchard & Fabrycky, 2011).
With emphasis on the psychological human factors, this paper will discuss the impacts and risk
that these human factors impose on designing for usability, testing for usability, and the user
acceptance and use of the overall system during utilization. After exploring the complications
and impacts of the psychological human factors, it is necessary to address how to account for
them. This paper will, therefore, address recommendations for considering usability and human
factors in design, testing, and user acceptance of the finished system.
