Arizona Gun Rights

Gun control has become a largely debated issue. There are numerous groups and citizens who believe that the use and ownership of firearms should be strictly controlled. However, there are probably just as many groups and citizens who believe in the second amendment and the people’s right to bear arms should not be hindered. The US has implemented limited gun control laws, and individual states are required to follow those same laws, but have the ability to enforce stricter laws. Living in Arizona, the gun control laws do not differ much from that of the nation’s gun control laws. Those who live in Arizona and a proponent of the second amendment, would say that Arizona’s gun laws are one of the best and follow closest to the US constitution and national laws, however, there has been some change from the past to current regarding changes in gun laws.

Arizona Gun Laws

As a member of various social media gun sites, it is easy to understand that Arizona has one of the least restrictive laws and regulations. Arizona gun laws do not stretch much farther than that of the US Constitution as the requirements include: at least 21 years of age, no history of violence, or mental issues, not a convicted felon, and complete the required background check (Stanton, S., 2011). Arizona does not require a license; however, one would need a permit if he or she would like to carry a concealed weapon. Arizona does, however; limit firearms which are legal for ownership. Firearms which are considered illegal in Arizona include: automatic weapons, modified rifles and or shotguns, and devices made to muffle the sound of a firearm. Arizonans can own basic handguns such as 9mm, .22, .38 revolvers, and AR assault rifles. As a citizen of Arizona and a veteran, it has always been a dream to own an AR-15, which is a common firearm used in the military. Living in Arizona, the process of purchasing an AR-15 took approximately one hour, with very little hassle.
