The importance of Happiness

Throughout our lives, we are confronted with the question of what is important in our lives. It is very hard to tell, and no two people can agree on the same thing. Some people spend a lifetime looking for an answer, and yet they either do not get to one, or they find an unclear and puzzling answer. There are no requirements that are necessary. What is most important is entirely relative to what the individual thinks is most important. What I may consider as important, may not be important to you. As a society today, we are so carried away with materiality. Our economic prosperity and technological advancements have made our lives easy and comfortable, but at the same time they give us a feeling of urgency and form a force that drive us intensely and in a greedy way to ask for more and more that it seems that what is fundamental to everyone today consists of material subjects. At the same time, I am not saying that materiality lack any significance in our lives, but the rush of our lifestyle has made us forget about the simple things and pleasures that have great significance and importance too. We have become so consumed in seeking fulfillment in physical things and tangibles to gain a superficial and non-lasting joy and comfort.

I think we are lucky when we are born, because we get the opportunity to live and experience a lot of different things during our lifetime, but at the same time our lives are relatively short and our years in this life go by very fast. Therefore, I think it is very important for us to live our lives happily and to grow a feeling of contentment. Happiness is essential to everyone and people spend their lives looking for happiness and trying to be one of those who call themselves happy. The question that raises itself here is, what does it mean to be happy? The answer to this is puzzling as it was with the answer to what was important in life.
