The monkeys in the zoo clip interacted very family like towards each other. Meaning that they were playful, comfortable, and maybe even a little comforting towards each other. The mothers carried their babies on their back which I am sure made them (the babies/children) more at ease in life, in general. It seemed to me that the baby monkeys really did definitely knew who their mothers are and are very happy. The adolesant monkeys were comfortable with their position in their life also, there was one a tree sitting comfortably eating what seemed like a fruit, with not a concern in the world, all the while the dominant male is walking around showing his position. There was definitely a “head honcho” in the group at the zoo, there is definitely a respect for him in the group, and dominance of this male monkey is definitely established within the “family”. This group of monkeys is definitely a family, there are the “mothers”, the father, adolescent males, and probably the adolescents females who will one day take over the roles as the “motherly” figures. The monkeys in the facility where the experiments occurred did not seem as happy in life as the monkeys did in their since of freedom.

I think social behavior between monkeys and humans are very similar. Humans all have very different personalities, as do the monkeys. There are the very silly, strong willed, independent, needy, loving and caring people in the human race. The people who are confident in life and have certain drives usually become our congressman and women. This can be said within a family of monkeys where the string and independent male usually becomes the dominant of this particular family, and the more dominant female becomes the more popular female for the dominant male. Therefore becoming the “president” and the “first lady” in the family. There are some people who are natural leaders or there people who are followers, again...
