The criminal justice professionals who are from the United States Justice Department, report that the USA indeed does have the biggest prison population and also the highest incarceration rate in the whole globe (United, 2015). This is due to the factors, for example tough sentencing laws as well as a record of drug criminal arrests and finally due to the high crime rates. The author of this paper thinks that there is not a thing wrong with how the USA is trying to nail crime in the rear end. She is not saying that the other countries are not doing the same thing, but she does think that it is a good idea to have strict rules and if someone cannot follow them then they get cuffed and stuffed. Someone does the crime they do the time (United, 2015).

In the month of November on the 30th day it has been reported that 1 out of 32 USA citizens or seven million individuals have been locked up or on probation/parole at the end of the year of 2005. Now this is with 2.2 million of the 7 million individuals have been locked up in either prison or the jail (United, 2015). The author of this paper calls it the county hotel. Now compared to the USA, London reported that the number was truly the highest of any other country with China following in second at 1.5 million prisoners. Russia follows behind with 870,000. The USA has the biggest lock up rate at 737 out of 100,000 criminals; Russia has 611 out of 100,000 and St. Kitts and Nevis’ at 547 (United, 2015).

In the USA, they do not have the crime rates that are higher than other countries, but due to the fact that they lock up more criminal offenders. This includes the people that are not violent and who are drug criminals (Five, 2013). They keep them in prison longer.
