Eating Organic

While some believe organic is only for vegans and vegetarians, there is evidence to suggest that having an organic diet would benefit anyone; whether a child, an adult, or a senior citizen. Many of us are not aware of the poison that is in today's food. This paper, will discuss three reasons an organic diet is beneficial to anybody’s lifestyle. By having an organic diet, one will ingest fewer chemicals; it is a cheaper alternative, and many allergy symptoms will disappear.

Ideally, it is safe to trust that fruits and vegetables from a grocery store are fresh and healthy. However, American “farms” have been under fire for the way they treat produce and meats. Traditionally, farmers would pick and graze good and bad produce, before putting them on the shelves. In today’s world, the produce we consume gets sprayed with pesticides and harmful fertilizers. Children now have more developmental disadvantages than ever because of the improper care of non-organic produce. Scientists have also linked the harmful chemicals in non-organic foods to different types of cancers. Pesticides have reportedly been involved in over 260 cases of cancer, including types such as breast, prostate, brain, bone, thyroid, colon, liver, and lung, cancer. Also, pesticides and fertilizers have remained linked to autism in growing children. Head scientists found many of those who have autism were exposed from their mothers throughout the pregnancy. That is because many substances affect the baby’s neurological development during pregnancy. “A 2010 Harvard study blames organophosphate pesticides found in children’s urine.” Pesticides have also been linked to obesity as well as diabetes; because of a pesticide known as dichlorophenol. Those who are obese have high levels of organochlorine pesticides in their bodies, which give them a greater chance of being diabetic. Choosing to eat organically grown foods will help...
