Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine an organizational change that my organization is likely to make. A participant approach describing the change and recommended action steps for minimizing adverse impact on the organization and its people. The paper will focus on the systemic nature of the organization, how the change will improve the effectiveness of the organization, and its processes and the productivity of the employees.
Organizational Change
Organizational change usually means change throughout the entire organization, as opposed to smaller changes like new process, downsizing, etc. Change throughout the entire organization might include changing mission, merging, etc. Some may call this organizational transformation because it restructures the way an organization operates. Organizational change is a process geared toward improving the organization.
An organizational change should not be done just to change something. An organizational change should be done to accomplish a goal(s). Organizational change is usually motivated by an external force. Organizations that are changing organization-wide are making changes to advance to a different level.
I have found that people are resistant to change. I think that people are afraid of the unknown, by not knowing how change will affect them personally and professionally. Some people are closed minded and feel that there is no need for change. Other people just doubt that change will be effective. People must move past the anxieties for change in order to progress. This can be accomplished by either having the survival anxiety be greater than the learning anxiety or, preferably, learning anxiety could be reduced.
Increased communication and education are the best approaches to address resistance. The leader should meet with all employees to explain change, how change...
