Causes for American involvement in World War 2

Although the USA believed that we need to remain neural during the war. Several factors ended up requiring the USA to finally become involved in the war.

The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty that was implemented at the end of world war one that ended the state of war between Germany and the allied powers. But Hitler defied the treaty by invading the industrialized Rhineland during the year nine teen hundred and then he annexed the germen speaking Austria in 1938. This caused the allied powers to become aware of Hitler and what he was trying to do.

Isolationism played a large part of the reason that America did not want to become involved in the war. There was several reasons that American did not want to become involved in the war. The memories of the first war were still fresh and Americans did not want to have to watch as the alliances lead each other into war without any apparent justification. The great depression caused the feelings of isolationism even more because Americans were trying to improve the lives in the united states and did not see an reason why we should become involved in the diplomatic disputes of the world while they trying to improve their lives. A large percentage of the groups of indivuals that were in the United States had respect for Hitler because of how he revived the German economy in a record time. And they believed that we should negotiate with the Nazis because they believed that we could not stop them. America also had indivuals that were anti-Semites which means that they did not like the Jews. Which resulted in America agreeing with the Nazis and rallying behind them.

Between the years 1935 and 1937 congress passed a series of neutrality acts that placed arms embargos on all of the belligerent powers of the war. President Roosevelt did sign the acts but he was leery of the...
