People have long dreamed of flying cars, men in space, and self-tying shoes. It’s the eternal drive for more. We have to create new. It too must be bigger, better, faster, cleaner, and more efficient. It’s this drive that has advanced society exponentially this past century, but instead of flying cars we have evolved from wagons and model T’s to planes, trains, and more effective cars. What started this spike was the creation of the model T it made society dare to dream the unthinkable concepts. We improved the combustion engine, constantly breaking the land speed record, and even reached forty mile to the gallon automobiles. This also transferred over to air travel and trains improving on the speeds of vehicles and considerably lowering travel time. We have trains that have enough power to pull miles and miles of train cars, and commercial airline jets that carry hundreds of people around the world in record time. Society has been improved upon dramatically in the past century, but what do the future generations hold for us? How can we make our world better by build bigger, faster, stronger, cleaner, and more efficient? The great minds of today are searching for that answer in electricity and magnetism.

Electric cars aren’t too farfetched in the world of tomorrow. New concept cars are constantly being explored, and new charging stations are being built every day. The need for these vehicles is growing everyday with the rising cost of fuel and diminishing amount of available fossil fuels. Hybrid vehicles utilizing an electric gasoline engine, made to combat the lack of charge station availability and lack of power of an electric motor, already exist today (Pesaran, 2013). These new hybrid cars equipped with an economy function which regulates the number of pistons used to achieve better gas mileage and power depending on the driving conditions, have been known to easily get fifty miles to the gallon.
