MGMT 591: Leadership and Organizational Behavior Project Proposal
Overview of Organization
The organization that will be the topic in my final project paper is Chamberlain College of
Nursing. Chamberlain is a single purpose college of nursing under the DeVry Education Group
umbrella since 2005. DeVry Education Group (NYSE: DV; member S&P MidCap 400 Index) is a
global provider of educational services. For 125 years, Chamberlain College of Nursing has
been at the forefront of excellence in nursing education. Chamberlain is increasing access to
nursing education nationwide with campuses offering the three-year Bachelor of Science in
Nursing degree program and flexible online programs such as the RN to BSN option, Master of
Science in Nursing degree program, Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program and Graduate
Certificates.
Due to increased governmental regulation for title IV funding of for profit institutions of
higher education, we became under scrutiny for any activities that appeared to be and
inducement for students to enroll into our programs. In addition, the organization had to make sweeping changes to how all departments involved with student enrollment were compensated. This took away any bonus compensation incentives way from employees who worked in these areas, DeVry online services, student services, financial aid, admissions advisors, registrars, and the team I managed Healthcare Development.
The Healthcare Development team’s main focus is business development and supporting activities that would drive new student enrollment. My teams work remotely across the country to initiate and develop relationships with key targeted partners in the healthcare market and community colleges. With this partnership comes certain benefits for the partners workforce/alumni, tuition reductions, waived enrollment fees, streamlined admission process, dedicated websites/phone numbers, and customized programs to assist...
