A lot of different factors affect the prices of Packers tickets. How well the Packers are performing is one of these factors that can affect the price of tickets. If the team is performing well, the prices of the tickets can increase. When the team is not performing well, the tickets can go down in price. This post will outline what causes the prices to increase and decrease as well as how these factors can impact income and elasticity of demand. I chose the Packers because they are my favorite football team and I am studying sports management.

Another factor that can affect the price of Packers tickets is when there are stadium upgrades to make. When the stadium needs to be upgraded, management may raise the price of tickets to offset some of the cost of stadium upgrades. With prices being raised 3 dollars to five dollars depending on location for the 2015 season, the Packers may do stadium upgrades. Another item that has an effect on price is whether or not a team is within the league average. That is the reason the Packers are raising ticket prices for 2015. President of the Packers Mark Murphy said, “We use that benchmark each year to help us determine pricing so we maintain great value for season ticket holders and provide a fair share to our partner teams.

The tickets have a huge effect on income. It is the main source of income for the football team. Without fans going to the game, there is no product in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The higher the prices go, generally the less amount of people will show up to watch the game. Ticket prices also have a hand in television contracts. If nobody in the state is willing to pay money to watch them in a game live, then who would watch one of their games on television? The answer is not many people would.
