Leadership is a skill I find to be greatly of value. I try to demonstrate leadership in most every aspect of my life, all while knowing my limits. I know it is well in my ability to not only lead but to be a leader that can be respected.

I am the oldest of four children. At the age of 16 my parents had to move away and leave us with our grandparents for several months. My grandparents were not capable of doing all the things that need to be done for four children. I took on that responsibility of leading the house. I had to put my education on hold and land a full time job. I took the kids to school, went to work, came home made sure their homework was done, and then got them off to bed. My grandparents came to depend on me as the leader and caregiver.

In my work life I have been a manager since I was 18 years old. By the time I got through my GED program and was ready to start school I was already as far as I could go in my job. My boss told me constantly not only was I a good leader, but someone who my team enjoyed working for.

Being a leader is something I have learned to do well over the years. I'm the type of leader that leads by example and looks out for the greater good of those I'm leading and not just myself. I think the fact I lead the way I would want to be lead sets me apart from most. I'm the type of leader who jumps into something head first and does my best for everyone I am responsible for.
