1. Micro-blogging is a type of blog that lets users publish short text updates. Bloggers can usually use a number of service for the updates including instant messaging, e-mail, or Twitter. The posts are called microposts, while the act of using these services to update your blog is called microblogging.  Social networking sites, like Facebook, also use a microblogging feature in profiles. On Facebook this is called "Status Updates". Microblogging combines some communication principles that are used by different digital media. Comparable to blogs, with Microblogging everybody is able to offer content to a large audience. Microblogging has become very popular among groups of friends and professional colleagues since the introduction in the early 2000’s. By carefully understanding the behavior of the people, microblogging allows companies to target specific customer segments and enhance their servicing capabilities. These sites are fast becoming important value adding, cost-reducing marketing tools, particularly in enabling small and medium size star-ups to more effectively compete in the global online market.

2. Global organizations can improve operations through Twitter by using the social media site as a marketing or public relations channel. They can post about corporate accomplishments and distribute links that take people back to corporate web pages, press releases, and other promotional sites. Many companies have used Twitter to appease to its younger consumers. Businesses such as Citibank knew younger customers were increasingly turning to social media when they had business issues. Young people are tweeting their grievances and receiving instant feedback.
