REPORT DESCRIPTION:

Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) is a radiographic or fluoroscopic technique which is used for the diagnosis of

various vascular disorders. The technique is also utilized for the visualization of blood vessels in the soft dense tissue environment or a bone. Digital subtraction angiography is applied for obtaining clear images of the arteries and is also highly effective in contrasting arterial structures with the surrounding bone and tissue material. Digital subtraction angiography has proven to be efficient in the identification of abnormalities such as ulcerated plaques,

stenosis, occlusions and aneurysms. In addition to its application in carotid arteries this technique is also widely used in the evaluation of vascular by-pass grafts, aortic arch anomalies and aortic coarctation. The technique is being replaced by computed tomography angiography (CTA) as CTA is a less invasive test which produces 3D images.
