Executive Summary
Within the last decade, the implementation of operational management techniques have
become increasingly popular among businesses striving to increase overall efficiency within
their operational processes. In order to incorporate these new techniques, companies need to first
identify key aspects of their operational process which are inefficient and unproductive. In the
case of TASC, a government contracting company, it was determined that the most inefficient
and unproductive aspect of their operational process was recruiting, with a breakdown in lines of
communication identified as the major contributing factor. The appropriate technique identified
to mitigate this issue was a recruiting dashboard. The use of a recruiting dashboard would open
lines of communication, increase awareness of where a candidate is within the process, assign
accountability at each step and most importantly would aggregate the data to a central location,
accessible to all concerned parties. As with any new process there are always challenges which
arise. Factors like cost, technology incompatibility and impact on organizational culture were all
identified as challenges to the successful implementation of the recruiting dashboard. It is
suggested that care be taken when selecting the recruiting dashboard software in order to
minimize any impact from these challenges. If the implementation of the recruiting dashboard is
successful, it is recommended that TASC utilize this operational management technique in other
departments, in order to optimize their operational efficiency and maintain their foothold within...
