1. What are at least two legal issues associated with clinical psychology? Provide an example of a situation that could be legal but unethical. Explain your response.

There are many different circumstances that can be legal issues for clinical psychology some are very obvious and others are not. Confidentiality is one of the obvious ones but an important one just like in any field. A client has the right to confidentiality unless it is a consultation, or going to harm them self or someone else then this cannot be broken. This is a law and the psychologist is bounded by. What exactly is confidentiality to a patient it is: not discussing their treatment again unless has patient consent or harmful, the doctor must keep all records pertaining to patient in a safe secure place so cannot be stolen or copied (Hogan, 2007).

Consent is another issue when it comes to clinical psychology and if the patient is under age or enabled to help self-such as mental/physical they need a parents or guardians consent to treat (Hogan, 2007). This is a must before any treatment or help can be done.

2. What are at least two ethical issues associated with clinical psychology? Provide an example of a situation that could be ethical but illegal. Explain your response.

Again there are many different things that can be considered ethical issues and again they can be oblivious or not. One ethical issue is if a fresh out of school psychologist is capable of treating a patient. This does not mean they are not a good psychologist it just simply means not all cases are alike and just because you got that degree one still has many things to learn and can always pass on case if needs to. A good psychologist will know when to pass or when their skills can help one.
