According to the text, there are a number of key trends in the workplace that have significant influences on organizations. Human Resource (HR) professionals play a key role in helping organizations respond to evolving trends, comply with federal and state regulations, and manage workplace flexibility. As an HR professional it is important for you to demonstrate your understanding of the ever changing global environment.
Key Functional Areas of Human Resources Management
Human resource management is a very important and significant part of every organization. It is the part of management that takes care of the employees and their relationship with the company. The basic functions of human resource management is to plan, develop, and administer policies and programs that are aimed at ensuring the organizations human resources are utilized (Human Resource Management Functions, n.d.). However; the key functional areas of human resource management include planning, staffing, employee development, and employee maintenance. These key functional areas have several related resource functions that fall within each area. For example, compensation can be associated with staffing and maintenance as it serves as a tool in employee retention and recruitment.
Planning function is vital to human resource management and the overall performance of the organization because it helps you determine how many and what type of employees are required in order to do the job and ensure company goals are met. A lot of research and gathering of information goes into planning in order to predict future supplies and needs required. Staffing and employee development is considered to be the basic human resource planning strategy.
