A. Prefatory Parts

Title Fly - is the cover of the report containing (1) the title of the report, (2) the name of the receiver of the report, and (3) the name of the writer?

Title Page - The title page is next to title fly. It has more information than the title fly.

Letter of Authorization – Written confirmation of a person's rank, authority, or ability to enter into a legally binding contract, take a specific action, spend a specified sum, or to delegate his or her duties and powers.

Letter of Transmittal face on preface or foreword – This letter comes immediately after the letter of authorization and is bound as part of the letter.

Table of Contents and Illustrations – The table bears major and subdivisions of the report and then respective appearance in the report. The numbering of the contents is marked by Roman number (I, II, III), alphabet (A, B, C) and Arabic numbers (1, 2, 3) etc.

Executive Summary - An executive summary, or management summary, is a short document or section of a document, produced for business purposes, that summarizes a longer report or proposal or a group of related reports in such a way that readers can rapidly become acquainted with a large body of material without having to read it all.

B. Report Proper

Introduction – a beginning section to a book, article or essay which states its purpose and goals.

Report findings – Very often, you will have to write reports, which are documents containing factual and objective information that you have collected through research. Analytical research reports, which are written after having gathered important information from primary research resources such as surveys or experiments, rather than published documents, present original data that you collect and analyse.
