When my school is involved with Continuous Action Planning the school experiences a positive culture and climate. Because Continuous Action Planning is the process of improving schools this is always a time for all stakeholders to stop and see where we currently are, how we have been conducting our teaching, look at the assessment results for our students, and what programs and processes are being used by staff to get the end results. It is almost like cleaning your closet. By taking the time to weed out what doesn’t fit or work, we can see what needs to be changed. Staff becomes more positive when they see that change is making a difference thus, more willing to continue the buy in and be receptive to future modifications.

The culture of a school can dramatically affect action planning. When there is staff that has not originally bought in to the school mission and vision you will always have animosity and lack of support. Continual Action Planning will not be received with open arms and staff will not want to cooperate with the work involved with making change. This is why a good administrator will make sure that during the process of creating a vision and positive school climate, all stakeholders have been part of the implementing and have bought in. Then, when trying to have all teachers see the big picture that having Continual Action Planning will bring about positive change will help bring around those that originally had a negative attitude.
