Beau Ryan might not be the most famous PR individual within the realm of sport, but he is one person who definitely stands out from the rest.

Born in Wollongong, Beau Ryan first started out as a professional Rugby League player, making his debut for the West Tigers in 2007.

Throughout his football career, Beau managed to lay the foundations stones to what would now be his television career.

In 2009 he started making regular appearances on Chanel 9’s, The Footy Show. In 2010, he had his own comedy segment on the show, called Beau Knows and when his football career ended 2014, he took on the role of co-host of The Footy Show.

A lot of you may be wondering what makes him different from other sports presenters. There are plenty in Rugby League, let alone sports right? What makes him stand out?

For one, he is a recently retired player. The insights he gives on Rugby League issues are in line with the opinions of current players. It sheds a different light on these topics and gives audiences a well-rounded understanding.

However, his value does not lie in that. His value lies within the comical aspects of his work on TV, which has made him arguably the most popular presenter on The Footy Show.

From interviewing or “harassing” members of the public to sky diving for ratings to impersonating Rugby League players and famous Australians, including Kevin Rudd, Beau’s segments have contributed The Footy Show’s Logies wins in 2013 and 2014.

In 2014, he also released a song with Justice Crew, titled “Where you from”. Simply put, this song was Beau acting the stereotype of Islander, Lebanese and what most people call Bogan members of the community. Despite this, the song debuted at 19 on the ARIAS singles chat.

Recently, Beau has taken on greater roles on The Footy Show, interviewing stars such as Dwayne Johnson and Mark Walberg.
