Two Descriptions- San Diego Zoo

As we walked in, it was one of the most beautiful places I have seen. Various tropical and woodland trees gave shade to the multi-colored, exotic flowers that lined the highway of walkways, which led its visitors to the different attractions. You could see the smiles and hear the laughter coming from the children’s faces. The air was filled with a sweet smell from all the flowers, but as you begin to walk, you take in the aromas from a coffee shop, fresh popped popcorn, and various different restaurants offering Mexican food and American food. The young man, under a shaded umbrella, was moving quickly to fill bags of red and blue cotton candy, which you could almost taste the sugar melting on your tongue. This looked to be one of the happiest places for all adults and children alike.

As I sat on an old, wooden bench in the hot, humid San Diego heat, I could feel the sweat drip down my back. I could taste the saltiness of the sweat as it began to drip more and more down my face. People were screaming and yelling at their kids to be patient, as they glared at the park maps in confusion, as they did not know which route to take. The trash can next to me, smelt like it had not been changed since yesterday. The bin was overflowing from half eaten nachos, a burrito that had been picked apart, and you could see the stickiness that lined the top of the lid from all the spilt sodas and lemonades. As it began to get more crowded along the walkways, I noticed a lady slam the back of her baby stroller into the heel of helpless victim. As I stood up to leave, I watched an accident prone child drop his ice cold water, leaving a puddle on the ground, which evaporated within seconds.

As I stood back, witnessing what was taking place, I took down notes. I used a few different strategies, which I believed was very helpful in conveying my message. I watched what the happy families were doing, and observed how miserable the unhappy families...
