A merchandiser manager has been meeting budget requirement consistently every quarter. The manager has been able to negociate plus reduce the workforce and stay consistent in the department’s budget. Later on, being a supervisor under this manager, you discover they are sending falsified reports. The merchandiser manager is using Mexican baseball players’ names in the places where they reduced the workforce to meet budget cost. Also this manager has been receiving bonuses for staying within or below budget.

The first question of my guide I would examine is, do I use my authority/business assets solely to fulfill my responsibilities and not for self-interest or to further the interests of family, or friends? The manager is clearly not using his authority to benefit the company, but instead his actions are self-interest. His actions can also be to further the interest of his family. His actions demonstrate deception and main purpose to self-profit by receiving bonuses for meeting budget objectives.

Second question is, do I demonstrate my organization/business vision, mission and values in my actions? The manager’s action are not congruent with company policies or actions expected of a manager. His actions demonstrate a company/business that is deceitful and can’t be trusted. His actions represents a business with low values and morale’s.

Third question is, do I ensure or ascertain others reports are appropriately conveyed, not misleading to higher management? The manager’s actions explicitly demonstrates that this isn’t being done. His false reports are being sent to higher management misleading them as to how well the business is actually doing. Which in turn could misrepresent the company’s value if more than just this manager is conveying falsified reports.

Last question is, do I strive to be equitable when dealing with employees or customers? Manager actions show that he/she did not strive to be fair and just, He/she cut workforce making some unemployed...
