Global geopolitics: Military Review.

The physical security and economic health of states are defined by geography. However, political unrest in one region, such as terrorism in the Middle East and East Africa, affects other regions. Geopolitics, as a term, defines regional politics in terms of international cooperation that dates back since cold war when the world was defined by two major alliances, Russian and Western. Cold war left a deeply entrenched politics of regionalism, which include balance of power that is exercised through economic and political rivalry. Among the historical examples of geopolitics in militarism is the question of the role of NATO and USA in global politics in defining global politics. In this case, militarism has taken a center stage in defining the relationship among regions and states which establish regional groups to enhance their military capabilities. Therefore, this essay examines the significance of militarism in global geopolitics.

The concern of geopolitics is with the organization of political space and the way this arrangement translates into global cooperation and conflict. While referring to power and its geographical arrangement, militarism is increasingly becoming a major defining element of political organization. In addition to having its origin from cold war, the September terror attack rejuvenated the military definition of global politics where the world was reorganized based on war against terror. This has taken a step further to involve military innovation and technological innovations to facilitate relationships among states. In the realist view, the militarization of global politics is the real nature of interaction among states. In this case, states interact to protect and enhance their national interest, which include security.
