Go Green Programs

The purpose of this paper is to persuade people in our communities to go green in Arizona. Many programs have been advertised by TV. Commercials, media, and even our favorite celebrities, some people from our state have joined a movement to protect Arizona’s natural resources. On this document I will explain how with just some life stile changes people could be on the way to help save the environment. I will be covering electronic recycling, tips to save energy around the house.

Recycling is one of the most powerful tools to save Arizona’s environment. For example recycling electronics devices such as laptops, game systems and cell phones that are outdated, this electronics are made with toxic chemicals as mercury and lead that can leak into soil at landfills and pollute groundwater. Many stores have recycling programs that allow exchanging electronics that are no longer in use for gift cards. Some people at the community have donated working electronic as cell phones, lap tops, and DVDs’ to charities for a tax write off. In the last couple month’s people in the community have persuaded other families to save energy by practicing this program. In our city people are beginning new habits in attempt to save money and help the environment using reusable bags. But, my advice for low income families whom can afford to buy reusable bags is to use plastic bags more than once when shopping groceries. There is between 500 billions and one trillion plastic bags consumed globally each year (Cristina Cobb 2009). People in our city are carrying their own reusable bags to the stores; many of the grocery stores give to costumers incentives for using their reusable bags. Our city provides us with blue recycling container to dispose properly our plastic aluminum and paper.
