Don Rogers became the Vice President and General Manager of the Electronic Products Division (EPD) at Allentown Materials Corporation. The EPD had some issues at the time that were; enhanced pressure from the center of the organization, 10% average growth rate and aggressive benefit goals. EPD has built in 1980, it had strong financial and profit position in 1992, on 1990s established the first industrial research laboratory. Technical Staffs Division (R&D), which conducted a basic research, product and process research. In 1980s EPD began to shift. Because of personal computer (PC) business, electronic products provided new opportunities to EPD.

EPD build a plant in Evans Georgia.By 1992, EPD management had pressure to extend their product line, develop end-use products for growing markets. At the same time markets were growing and the costumers becoming pickier about products and the cost. Joe Bennett was headed the EPD before 1990. He was commanders, strict-direct, egoist, and outspoken. To improve the business, he initiated a program; individual management styles, group effectiveness, inter-functional coordination, and organization wide problems. Don Rogers, was bright, technical and managerial quick thinker, he could express himself in both small and large groups. He was also dominant, not good listener,not seeing the problems that company had. He made some changes in the company; moved to headquarters, market development, separated marketing and sales functions, improved the EPD's service so on. Manufacturing; EPD's plant managers were upset because of their volume had shrunk and price cuts caused their dollar volume dropped. Manufacturing was more critical of the marketing function and was not happy with product development. Marketing included several activities; costumer engineering, advertisement and market development. Most of the people transferred to marketing from sales department.
