Obtaining a graduate degree is one of the most rewarding experiences that we can acquire in our personal and professional life. It is much different from previous education in that one has more autonomy. Not only can we choose our classes or subjects to our preference but we can determine the time and days that we desire. In many ways these choices contribute greatly to the success of completing college.

College not only allows us to become a well rounded individual, it prepares us for the workplace of our chosen profession. By integrating the subjects of our selected profession along with subjects that consist of general studies we can view others openly and attain an awareness toward different people, cultures, customs and, perspectives. This is an integral part of satisfaction within the workplace and provides advancement opportunities along with better benefits or perks.

In one way or another, everyone is affected by stress. Some individuals are affected on a daily basis. For many individuals working under pressure or stress can be motivating, for others working under stress can hamper their creativity, learning abilities and decrease their productivity. It is important to take into account that, “The inability for students to successfully cope with stress may lead to a cascade of negative consequences on both a personal and professional level (Rizzolo, Zipp, Stiskal, & Simpkins, 2009, p. 80). Unfortunately, there is no way that this predicament can be circumvented because stress cannot be avoided. We must learn how to manage stress, and for this reason it would be beneficial to integrate stress management techniques that can assist with stressors that one is confronted with, while pursuing graduate studies. Working on our physical and mental well-being can help our stress level as we learned in our week two reading assignment.
