it would create a hypotonic environment. which would cause the cells to swell with water which could lead to the cell bursting

in case 1 and 3 both patients had vomited and had complained of dizzzienes which means the brain and the kidney are most likely the affected organs. assuming since the other two cases had similar circumstances leading to their death i assume case two had similar symptoms and was affected in a similar way.

i believe the rapid swelling of the cells in the brain caused either a seizure, respiratory problems or etc. all of these are caused by excessive over hydration.

i would inspect the hands and feet to see if they are swollen because if they over hydrated to quickly the cells would expand due to their natural flexibility. i would also run a osmolality blood test to see if the blood cells are swollen.

restrict their fluid intake and administer saline solution to counter act the cells from swelling to a dangerous point and prevent the patient form being over hydrated.

doctors administer saline solution rather than pure water because the saline solution has the same concentration as what your body should be. if the doctor administer pure it might over hydrate the patient and lead to a possible death.

endurance athletes are more vulnerable because the body releases a hormone called antidiuretic which helps them retain water during intense training, but that causes a major problem because many athletes drink a lot of water during that short period of time which could lead to over hydration.

the extreme heat in the desert causes many desert-dweller to drink a lot of water in which causes them to urinate more oftenly. during urination your body releases sodium and potassium out of your body which could develop hyponatremia if you don’t replenish you body with electrolytes. you can avoid this by adding extra salt into your food and by eating foods with a lot of potassium like banana’s or avocado’s.
