Essay Title: Introduction to Organisational Behaviour
Having a diverse workplace can help to improve productivity and create a very synergetic environment combining the different races and cultures, age and experience. This also will boost the organisation’s competitive edge has there will be new and better ideas provided and different perspectives are given. Unfortunately, the downside of this diverse workplace will cause a possibility of culture clashes, misunderstanding and unacceptance. This is why management has to implement policies and strategies to effectively handle the workplace diversity. Effective management is the key to unlocking the synergy that a diverse workplace provides.
The demographic of Expeditors Singapore workforce is that there is a majority of females compared to males as this is a service line industry, most of the males are required in the warehouse than in the office. The age is ranging from the age of 21 up to the age of 55 years old; both providing experience from the years of working in this line to the young and energetic who are hunger for knowledge. Intellectually, there is a huge number of people in the workforce that have background experience and on hand experience to fresh grads that have just graduated from the universities. There is a variety of races and religion such is Chinese; which are the majority, Malays, Indians and people from other country such as Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, America and China. All coming from different background and races providing a rich culture in the workplace. We celebrate a variety of events of different religion to have a understanding and make aware of by indulging the festive food such as Christmas log cakes, Chinese cuisines and Malay biscuits.
