Case Study 1: Bhutan and Gross National Happiness

Country: South Africa

GOAL 1: Achieve Universal Primary Education

Target 1: Ensure that by the year 2030 all children globally will have access to a primary education through the implementation of funding and support programs made available by the government for families who require aid.

Target 2: Create a sense of need with regards to education throughout communities through the implementation of outreach programs and educational awareness projects.

GOAL 2: Eradicate Extreme Poverty and Hunger

Target 3: By the year 2030 reduce the number of people currently unemployed through the development of government communal recreational facilities .These facilities in turn create employment opportunities as well as improving the enrichment of community living

Target 4: By the year 2030 reduce the number of people living in poverty and those who cannot afford their basic food requirements by one third by implementing and reinforcing a sustainable and adequate minimum wage for all sectors of employment. It is essential minimum wage is enough to cover the basic needs for that individuals health and survival.

GOAL 3: Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases

Target 5: Reduce by half, the number of people being infected or contracting such diseases by the year 2030. With the prior improvements being made with regards to poverty and hunger and development through education the general health of the public will already improve and the outcomes will result in a decrease in the number of people being effected by disease simply by improving living conditions, however further efforts can be made to reduce infection and contraction by means of the development of affordable health care facilities in the required areas.

GOAL 4: Ensure environmental sustainability
