Women in the workforce 2

Background

The number of women in the workforce began to increase shortly after World War II.

According to BLS Reports in 2014, women accounted for 52 percent of the workforce in 2012.

That is over half of the workforce. Women in the workforce are one component of Diversity.

What is Diversity? Mondy explains in the text “Diversity refers to any perceived difference

among people; age, race, religion, functional specialty, profession, sexual orientation, geographic

origin, lifestyle, tenure with the organization or position and any other perceived difference.

(Mondy, p. 43). I know as a woman in the military it has been hard to be treated as an equal.

Women deserve to be treated equally as men but when does that draw the line. The reason why I

chose to define diversity because being black women in the workforce is hard. I had a Chief tell

me “ that it’s hard for a women In the military but its twice as hard for a black woman.

According to statistics the number of women that have been in the workforce from 1997 to 2011

has doubled by 50 percent. According to www.womensmemorial.org in 2011 there were 214,098

women in the military. This gave a total of 14.6 percent in the military.

Purpose of Study

how it used to be. I will also discuss the statistics of women in the workforce and how

Leo that I will apply in this paper is loyalty, integrity and respect. We all are created equal and
