Introduction
In this report I will discuss the setting of Micronesia, the cultural differences of Micronesia, the economic status and discuss the needs of the community. This report will also include how to address the needs of Micronesia by providing an adequate solution that will benefit the community economically, socially and culturally.
Heaven to a diving enthusiast
The Federated States of Micronesia are located in the Oceania North of Australia and almost midway to Hawaii. Micronesia is associated with the United States. There are four states the stretched across the Western Pacific Ocean. The capital of Micronesia is Palikir. From what I have read about Micronesia and the images I have seen online, the country appears to have a beautiful setting that reminds you of the perfect screen saver for your laptop. As of 2013 the population consists of 103,215 (Group, 2015). The Author Mac Marshall who wrote “Weekend Warriors: Alcohol in a Micronesian Culture”, was located on the Island of Moen in the Chuuk(Truk) lagoon which has the highest population among all the current municipalities within the state of Chuuk. In 1974 when Mr. Marshall conducted his ethnographic study the population was about 11,000 (Marshall, 1979). The island of Moen has not seen too much growth since 1974 and the population is about 14,000 today.
There are a number of languages spoken in the country, although English is the official language. On the island of Moen the language spoken is Chuukese. In Mr. Marshalls book he mentions that he speaks the language of the people he is observing (Marshall, 1979). Micronesia is like any other country in the world and they have endured some of the western ideas and philosophies although they still have their own cultural identity.
