Case Study #2

You will submit one report per team via email attachment (preferably as a pdf file, but if not then submit as a MS Word file) to both yerger@iup.edu and potts@iup.edu . You must submit the report by Wednesday September 9, 2015.

Points will be deducted for late submissions and for failure to follow required format.

You will work in teams of three or four students. You will submit one analysis per team. Be sure each team member’s name and assigned student number for this course is on your report.

You will receive either hard copies in class or electronic copies via email of two different chapters from India’s Global Powerhouses by Nirmalya Kumar, 2009 Harvard Business Press:

Chapter 4- Bharat Forge

Chapter 9- Suzlon

Your team’s assignment is to carefully read the case studies of Bharat Forge and Suzlon and then write an analysis that follows these guidelines:

* Your report will be typed, double-spaced, with approximately one-inch margins on all four sides. The report will be at least four, but a maximum of five pages in length.

* There will be no title page, just type your names, student ID numbers, and “ECON 634 Bharat Forge and Suzlon Case Study” on the top two rows and then begin your team’s report.

* You will write in a narrative form using complete sentences with a clear logical structure to your writings. You will not use subheading, bullet points, numbered sentence fragments, etc….

* Your report is to compare and contrast the experiences and strategies used by Bharat Forge and Suzlon as they transitioned from being an India-only firm to a genuinely globalized firm. Be sure your report answers clearly each of the questions below.

What did you think best explains the differences in the strategies adopted by the two firms?
