The book Lady Bird: A Biography of Mrs. Johnson by Jan Jarboe Russell reveals several facts and insights of Claudia Alta "Lady Bird" Taylor Johnson and her marriage to the president Lyndon Baines Johnson. Jan Jarboe Russell is a magazine journalist and writer, from San Antonio, Texas. Russell has published several articles in well known magazines such as The New York Times and San Antonio Express News. She is also a contributing editor at Texas Monthly. Russell’s focuses her work on Texas politics and culture publications and for twenty-five years, and has become an important name among other authors. She has embraced an important responsibility when researching information for 3 years before publishing “Lady Bird: A Biography of Mrs. Johnson”.

Even though the book describes several moments of Mrs. Jonson’s life, several important facts take place during LBJ presidential time fram. Lady Bird proved to be the influential power in LBJ's life, and behind the scenes, she became a determined political figure during a time when men dominated the political system. She proved to be an intelligent and independent woman, and her actions were responsible for her success. For example, the book describes that even though she was very rich, she made the decision to invest money on a Radio station business and later on serving as the LBJ Holding Company president.

The book describes how Lady bird became a legend in Texas, in many ways even more than her husband. Also, the author presents a very balanced biography, which describes the weaknesses and strengths of Mrs. Johnson's career and personal life. What makes the biography really interesting is that several information presented in this book describe facts that are well known such as familiar structure, but some of its details are not well known like her distance from her children during their raising.
