Singapore Airlines, along with its subsidiaries, is engaged in passenger and cargo air transportation,airport terminal services, engineering services, training of pilots, air charters, and tour wholesaling and related activities. The group operates in East Asia, South West Pacific, Europe, the Americas, West Asia, and Africa. Singapore Airlines is headquartered in Singapore and employed about 32,000 people as on March 31, 2009.

The group recorded revenues of S$15,996.3 million ($11,134.5 million) during the financial year ended March 2009 (FY2009), an increase of 0.1% over FY2008. The operating profit of the group was S$903.6 million ($629 million) during FY2009, a decrease of 57.5% compared to FY2008. The net profit was S$1,061.5 million ($738.9 million) in FY2009, a decrease of 48.2% compared to FY2008.
