In this class, you will have FOUR writing assignments.  In weeks 2, 4, and 6, you will select a case from the cases section located at the back of your book.  To clarify, this means that in week 2 you will select a case, in week 4 you will select a case, and in week 6 you will select a case.  In each of those weeks you will write a formal paper about the case you selected.  Your final paper, which is due in week 7 (and will also serve as your final exam) will be a synthesis of all three cases that analyzes various aspects of the cases.  It would be wise for you to consider the requirements for your final paper before you even begin analyzing and writing your first paper.  By knowing what you must plan for at the end, you can begin collecting those pieces now as you go through each case the first time. 

 

Your final paper will include a discussion of:

 

* Similarities/Differences (which you can’t incorporate yet because you only have one case)

* Various characteristics of the unethical behavior that occurred

* Types of ethical examinations, teleological frameworks and/or deontological frameworks that were identifiable in the case

* A discussion of why/how the unethical behavior was allowed or able to happen

* A discussion of how organizational culture, compliance, checks and balances, and/or governance might have prevented the unethical behavior from occurring

* An identification of the stage of moral development in which you found the unethical individual(s) to be when they decided to commit the unethical act (see Kohlberg’s six stages of moral development)

* A final synopsis of why the cases you selected were complex. 

 

In all your written work, you will be expected to include references from credible, scholarly sources beyond your text to support assertions that you make about things like human behavior, motivation, connection to theories such as the theory of planned behavior, etc.  Your final paper...
