1. According to the above opinion, how valuable is education? Why?

They say that it is “the most important function of state and local governments. It is valuable in teaching children cultural values, provides professional training and helps them adjust to their environment. Without education it is not likely a child will succeed in life.

2. What does the court mean by "tangible" factors of equality? What "intangible" factors play a role in whether school facilities are truly equal?

By “tangible” the courts mean the things that can be seen, such as the buildings or measured, such as the curricula, qualifications and teacher’s salaries. The “intangible” factors are the things that can’t be seen or measured. Like the emotional effects it has on the children who are separated because of their race. The said it generates a “feeling of inferiority” that may be lasting.

3. Do you think there are still consequences resulting from schools being segregated in the past? Explain you answer.

I do not think that there are still consequence resulting for the segregation in the past. When you look at school today (at least the ones close to where I live) there are children of all races in each school and they all have the same opportunities. Each student has the same change to succeed in their education and after. I think there is another problem in public schools that effects students and that is the funds available to the school in their area. Not all school districts are equal when it comes to funding and because of it some schools may not have all of the resources that a student needs to learn or offer the same opportunities that schools with more funding have. For example some schools only have a class set of books or none at all while other schools have a book for every child, or what is more popular is every child is issued a laptop or tablet with their books downloaded on to them.
