EXPOSITION: Miss Mijares interviewed an employee and she found out that the employee is a High School graduate and a carpenter.

RISING ACTION: He hired the employee to work at the construction site with 3 pesos to 4 pesos wage depends on how diligent he is.

CLIMAX: He found out that the employee is not going to work for two weeks.

FALLING ACTION: Then one day, the employee went to Miss Mijares’ office to explain on why he was absent for two weeks. He told that he went to his province because his child was died. Miss Mijares get mad because she didn’t know that he already have a child.

RESOLUTION: The employee followed Miss Mijares and he told her that he lied because he fell in love with Miss Mijares.

CHARACTER MAP

Miss Mijares: Slight, almost bony, she did not look 34 years old. Her brow was smooth and clear she always pushing off it the hair she kept in tight curls at night.

Employee/Carpenter: Carpenter, a man who knew his body and used it well.

Mother: She is Miss Mijares’ sick and old mother.

Atoy: The foreman in construction site.

Reflection:

The story tells about old woman that still don’t have a love life and still a virgin. Because all she do in her life is to work and take care of her mother. And one day a carpenter wants to apply for a job and that man become is the one who Miss Mijares love.

While reading this short story, I felt so pity to Miss Mijares because I think she didn’t enjoy her teenage life and even twenty’s age. Because all she did was to take care of her mother and focus on her work. For me that’s boring except for taking care of her mother. But she is just a victim in the society. Many women forget about their happiness in order to take care other people they love. Buy most women nowadays especially teenagers loss already their virginity and some teens had been pregnant already. I think this story gives lessons especially for...
