Story: Toddler pricked by contaminated needles

Story: Dad charged in drowning of 2 toddlers

The story I picked first was about a toddler who was pricked by contaminated needles after she was taken to the doctor for a skin rash. The topic or headliner is what grabbed my attention first, which made me want to read further. After reading the first paragraph of the article I thought it was from the doctor/nurse using the needles on her or that the needle was on the floor instead of being in a bio hazard bin. As I read on I was able to get more information pertaining to the incident and what brought it about. It seems that the little girl and either pulled down the Bio Bin or it was lying on the floor due to improper coverage of the bin. The story did not contain as much information as I would like given the nature of the contents; it may be due to the child’s age or the possibility that she could have HIV or Hepatitis. It does make me wonder what the clinic was thinking and why this was not caught before a patient even when into the exam room. Things like this worry me greatly, making me even more cautious when I go to the doctor or a Hospital. For the most part the article was well written; I just would have liked it to contain more facts or links that pertained to more information on the story. I am interested to know what has happened as a result of the incident.

The next story I have chosen to compare is also related to an incident with a toddler but different circumstances. This story is extremely sad! A recently unemployed brick layer abused and drowned his two toddlers in the bathtub. He is not being charged with first degree murder. The coverage on this story was very informative of the incident and its cause/effect of it. They did not go into detail what took place but it did allow for me to have a good understanding.
