Culture

Definition

Culture is the system of values, beliefs and knowledge shared for a specific group of people. It is the base of all the social patterns, explicit and implicit, such as communication, interaction, and behavior.

The culture is constructed by the constant social interaction and it is shared and learned by the members of a society through the observation and the imitation.

This particular attitude is due to the mass media such as internet and TV which are leading our generations to a more connected world. This advance in technology encourages the desire for increasing and adapting our knowledge.

Another way to foment changes within a society is through altering social interaction and fomenting new economic models. For instance, the participation of women in the labor market in the last 50 years involved new practices that have produced a shift in gender relations, altering both gender and economic structures.

Finally, the immigration also gives us a very good example of culture change. In this case the concept of acculturation helps us to identify how one specific culture replaces its features with those of another and finishes adapting itself into the new culture.
