Homeostasis

Have you ever wondered how your body maintains a steady core temperature even when exposed to heat or cold? If you get really cold your body start to shiver, when you get hot you sweat, but if you take a thermometer, your temperature somehow remains at its normal temperature. This is the result of homeostasis, when your body is cold, homeostasis mechanisms cause your body to shiver and takes blood away from your skin to keep the core temperature normal and steady.

All living organisms rely on homeostasis because it allows us to function in several environments and adjust to conditions necessary for survival, but how does the body maintain homeostasis? We have 10 major systems in our bodies that work together to keep temperature, pH, blood pressure and sugar levels stable, these systems are vital for homeostasis to occur. These systems are as followed:

* The urinary system helps by maintaining ideal pH levels in the blood, gets rid of waste and regulates fluids in the blood.

* The lymphatic system absorbs toxins and protects the body from foreign disturbances.

* The digestive system absorbs needed nutrients from the foods we consume.

* The endocrine system is responsible for our growth and development.

* The Integumentary systems helps the body cool off.

* The muscular system helps with our breathing, walking, digestion even the ability to pick things up.

* The skeletal system is responsible for our posture and being able to move from one place to another.

* The respiratory system removes various metabolic byproduct and waste and provided needed oxygen to the most important system in our body, which is the circulatory system.

* The circulatory system helps all the other organ systems perform their tasks and circulates blood throughout the body.

Without the amazing work that the organ systems perform we could not stay alive and live the way we do today.
