Analyze HR System

This paper is in reference to a new Information System for the current Human Resources ERP system. The service request SR-RM-004 from John Korezeniowski, states the organizational need for a new Human Resource ERP system. “… that integrates the existing variety of tools in use today into a single integrated application.” (Riordan Manufacturing, 2008) Riordan’s current ERP system was implemented in 1992 and is totally independent of its satellite offices. So I may better understand the business need I made a brief summary of the organization and its satellite offices.

Riordan Manufacturing, subsidiary of Riordan Industries, is a global plastics manufacturer employing 550 employees with the corporate office being located in San Jose, CA. There are a total of 3 satellite production plants, a plastic beverage container plant in Albany, GA, a custom plastic parts plant in Pontiac, MI and the more recent plastic fan parts plant opening in late 2000 which is located in Hangzhou, China. Riordan’s customers include automotive parts manufactures, various aircraft manufactures, the Department of Defense, several beverage makers and bottlers and even some appliance manufactures. Each plant has its own independent finance and accounting system which is which is consolidated at the corporate headquarters in San Jose, CA. Upon further reviewing Riordan’s current Information Systems and applications, I do see a need for an integrated, high-performance ERP Information System. This data was concluded from various factors, the major factor was documented employee dissatisfaction over the reliability and overall performance of the existing ERP solution. Another factor that suggest the overall Business need is the newer applications being implemented that a quite labor intensive procedures.
